A thorough pre-purchase inspection can reveal hidden problems, support price negotiation, and prevent costly safety issues. This checklist covers all critical areas for crane evaluation.
Structural Inspection
Check the boom for cracks, corrosion, bends, or evidence of previous repairs. Inspect all welds, especially at connection points and stress areas. Verify turntable bearing condition and rotation smoothness.
Hydraulic System
Inspect fluid level and condition. Look for leaks at cylinders, hoses, and fittings. Test all hydraulic functions for smooth operation. Listen for unusual pump noises.
Wire Ropes and Hooks
Inspect wire ropes for broken wires, kinking, corrosion, or wear. Verify proper spooling on drums. Check hooks for deformation, cracks, or excessive wear. Test safety latches.
