Daily Pre-Operation Inspection Checklist
A thorough daily inspection should be completed before every use. This checklist covers all critical components that must be verified for safe crane truck operation.
Crane Structure Inspection
Boom and Jib
Check the boom for cracks, bends, corrosion, or signs of fatigue. Inspect all welds, especially at connection points and stress areas. Verify that the boom extends and retracts smoothly and completely.
Hydraulic System
Check hydraulic fluid level and condition. Inspect all hoses, fittings, and cylinders for leaks. Verify that hydraulic pressures are within specifications.
Wire Ropes and Cables
Inspect wire ropes for broken wires, kinking, corrosion, or wear. Check that ropes are properly spooled on drums. Verify that rope diameter and construction meet manufacturer specifications.
Hooks and Rigging
Inspect hooks for deformation, cracks, or excessive wear. Check that the safety latch operates properly. Verify that all rigging hardware is in good condition and properly rated.
Safety Devices
Test all safety devices including: load moment indicator (LMI), anti-two-block system, boom angle indicator, outrigger position sensors, emergency stop controls, and backup alarms. Any malfunctioning safety device must be repaired before operation.
Carrier (Truck) Inspection
Check engine oil, coolant, and fuel levels. Inspect tires for proper inflation and tread wear. Verify brakes, lights, turn signals, and horn are functioning.
Documentation Verification
Ensure the load chart is present and legible. Verify operator certification and training records. Check maintenance logs and inspection certificates for current validity.
