Pre-Operation Safety Checklist
Before operating any crane truck, complete a thorough pre-operational inspection. Check the hydraulic system for leaks, inspect wire ropes and hooks for damage, verify outrigger operation, test all safety devices, and review the load chart for your specific lift plan.
Setting Up the Crane Truck
Choose a level, stable surface for setup. Extend all outriggers fully and use cribbing as needed. Ensure the truck is level before beginning any lifting operation. Set up the work zone with proper barricades and warnings.
Operating the Crane
Follow the load chart carefully. Make smooth, controlled movements. Never exceed the rated capacity for your specific configuration. Always maintain communication with ground personnel using standard hand signals or radio communication.
Common Safety Hazards
Be aware of overhead power lines, unstable ground conditions, high winds, and swinging loads. Maintain a safe distance from power lines—at least 10 feet for lines under 50kV. Never leave a suspended load unattended.
Post-Operation Procedures
After operations, properly secure the boom, retract outriggers, and conduct a post-operation inspection. Document any issues found and report them before the next use.
